Short Breaks

Creat!ve Breaks

Cheshire Centre for Independent Living (CCIL) has been commissioned by Cheshire West & Chester local authority to deliver Creative Breaks.

The project is an exciting, creative, and flexible fund, and increases the social opportunities available to disabled children and young people. The aim is to empower children and young people to participate in universal activities of their choice, enjoy new experiences and make new friends.

The process of accessing Creative Breaks is simple and straight forward, and without the need for further assessment. It also, importantly, offers parents/carers and siblings a valuable break from their caring responsibilities.

The service targets children and young people living in the Cheshire West & Chester local authority area, who receive the higher rate of DLA for either care and/or mobility, and do not receive any funding support from Social Services.   Those who meet the criteria can access the Short Break Individual Payments. These are paid as a quarterly lump sum, which is held in a managed bank account on their behalf. There is currently guaranteed funding until the 31st March 2015.

Early Help Individual Payments (EHIPs)

Cheshire Centre for Independent Living (CCIL) has been commissioned by Cheshire East council to deliver the Early Help Individual Payments project.

Aiming High Individual Payments is part of Cheshire East’s Short Break Services.

AHIP’s aims to empower children to participate in short breaks of their choice within their local community without the need for further assessment.

For those receiving the Higher rate of Disability Living Allowance (DLA) either care and/or mobility element but not currently receiving funded support from Social Care services families are offered four hours funded support per week.

This is paid as a quarterly lump sum, which is held in a managed bank account on your behalf. This money can then be used to access a short break which can include day, evening, weekend or overnight activity, including sleepovers, trips out with friends and transport provision.
